This week, the fourth graders have taken on important roles as Scientists and Engineers. As a class, we learned about Science and Engineering Practices (SEP) and modeled the criteria.
The students watched a video about the 3 Little pigs and then had a fun time brainstorming, asking questions, and planning a structure of their own. They were put into groups with different building materials (sugar cubes, candy, Legos, dominoes, etc.) and as a group, had to create a house that would stand the “big bad hairdryer” from blowing it down. We are looking forward to carrying out our investigation and testing to see which group's structure will withstand the strong force.
