We are using different maps of Illinois to hunt for major rivers, lakes, and cities in our state. We are also locating the surrounding states near us.
Today we finished putting together our Daily Communication Folders! This folder is a great way to communicate and make for a better home and school connection. This folder will help us have a successful and organized school year. The Daily Communication Folder contains the following items in the plastic sheet protectors. These items should ALWAYS remain in their designated place: - Reading Log - 4th Grade High Frequency Words - Lunch/breakfast Menu - Study guides The communication folder is clearly labeled Leave at Home and Bring Back to School. There is also a designated page to communicate with me. Please make sure that this page stays in the folder. This communication folder will go home each school day (though some days it may be empty) and must be returned to school the following school day (even if returned empty). When sending money to school with your child, please send it in a clearly labeled envelope or small sealed sandwich bag (e.g., _________’s Lunch Money- Room #9 Mrs. Serrano's Class). Please make sure to review the importance of keeping these folders in tact and handled with care so that they will last all year long. Thank you for helping your child be organized and responsible! Our class is using Stand Up, Hand Up, Pair Up to share ideas on how we can make others feel good by filling their imaginary buckets at home and at school. The class enjoyed this activity after listening to a nice story called Have You Filled A Bucket Today?
I am so excited that District 7 will be continuing the Home Visit Program during the 2013/14 school year! The main goal of this program is for me connect with your child and family outside of the classroom. These connections will help build trust and form stronger home – school relationships. This is my second year participating in the program! I really enjoy getting to know my students outside of the classroom and learning about their interests at home!
